Better India - How we can make a difference

India is mostly democratic when it comes to holding elections and permitting freedom of movement and expression. But it mostly isn't when it comes to the functioning of politicians and political institutions.

The problem in India is we lack effective regulation on the way political parties function. Aspects such as financing of political parties, selection of candidates, accountability, and transparency are largely left to political parties to self regulate.

While free and fair elections are a necessary condition for a healthy democracy, they are not sufficient. A healthy democracy must provide good governance that responds in a timely manner to the concerns of all its citizens.

Soon we Indian would go on to the election mode, another chance to vote and select our leaders. As citizens, the 'Right to vote' is the only constitutional provision that allows us to participate directly in the government machinery. Remember every vote counts...

We have a population of over 100 crores and yet we continue to watch helplessly the increasing value of misappropriations each year by these anti people mafias.

If you thought you're too insignificant a unit to make a difference, think again. Make your neighborhood better and safer. If everyone does that the nation will be a safer place to live in.

Make sure this elections you make a difference... Below i have shared some usefull resorces..

1. The Liberty Institute in New Delhi launched Empowering India - a website dedicated to “Making democracy meaningful”. The Website.

2. The Freedom Team of India (FTI) is a forum for policy, strategy, and leadership development to promote our freedom. FTI members are committed to contesting elections in India under the banner of freedom. The Website.

3. Jaago Re!’s focus is to get India’s one billion voters to register and participate in the electoral process. The Website.

4. Association for Democratic Reforms or ADR conducts “Election Watch” activities throughout India, spending considerable time and effort to dig into the backgrounds of political candidates and their antecedents. The Website.

India needs to fight back terrorism

25 human life ended, more than 140 people injured in a span of 25 mins. The bomb blast which ripped across the Delhi markets on a Saturday evening has impacted hundreds of families who lost their loved ones, families just like yours and mine. The blasts took place in some of the busiest market place of Delhi- Connaught Place, Gaffar Market and GK-II.

Helplessness is what many people in Delhi might have felt, a time when anger and emotions were on high. This is not what a great nation like India deserve. Two months back, 25th July to be exact, it was Bangalore and then Ahmadabad. Various political leaders ‘condemn’ the attack and some even visit the blast sites. Television channels host debates to discuss the issue with some politicians also participating in it.The opposition blame the ruling government and thats it. And those who are responsible for this are sitting somewhere right inside India and they must be congratulating themselves for their cowardly act. It is deeply disturbing to see that how such heinous acts of cowardliness are perpetrated in the name of Allah.

So whats the solution ? how does india fight back ?
Firstly we all need to understand that it is not a one man’s business to fight terrorism. We need to stand united against this threat and play our role as an responsible citezen.

Secondly India should shread its image of a soft nation. Enough of this peace loving nation status. Unless we develop a mind set of taking the death of every ordinary citizen as a national loss and taking revenge of his or her death by chasing, grabbing and punishing the culprits no matter what does it take, we should not expect to curb this menace of terrorism.

The time has come for India to take a stand, if India is to survive, it should learn strike back and strike bad hard.

Apple's iphone now in India - the inside details

Apple's iPhone is all set to hit the Indian market this August, although i am not a very big iPhone fan but still i am exited with the fact that the Indian mobile market would have some exiting times ahead. This would be also the best time for consumers buying new phones. Here are some details i thought of sharing...

iPhone would be officially available in India through private telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar from August 22. As India does not have apple stores as yet the handsets would be gradually available on mobile stores starting from the metros.

IPhone is embedded with 3G features and is faster than the existing mobile phones. The phone also has in-built GPS system, that facilitates as a navigation and positioning tool. The price of the handset is still a hush hush, however as Indian operators may not subsidies the handset, which is a case in US as operators the iPhone could be priced somewhere around $499 or Rs 20,000 initially.

Ok, now to answer some obvious questions on iphone

How do i get a iPhone ?
Vodaphone has a pre-booking option on its website and so does Airtel on its website. Check it out as they may have some exclusive introductory offers for Indian consumers.

How can i get a legal unlocked iPhone in India ?
Well Apple has tied up with Orange to market its iPhone in France and Orange France is forced by French law to unlock any mobile handsets they sell. So once the unlocked iPhone hits the shelves of France, you may see it making its way to India via FedEx and DHL
Indian dealers would also updating themselves to learn methods of unlocking the iPhone, as its only a matter to time.

Would i buy a iPhone in August? Well a nope.. not yet because of three factors.
a)The competions is preparing itself to handle the Indian iphone mania. Nokia is all set to launch a number of new model and at very competative prices.
b)Tough competions would mean the prices of the iPhone has to come down drastically if not immediately.
c)3G is yet to happen in India, till that happens an upgraded version might be in the market

Well, if you are an iPhone fan go ahead and take the plunge and give me your feedback

Sources: Labnol and Phonesreview

An update as of 14th August : The Indian iphone pricing issued by news sources are as follows :
Apple iPhone 8Gb - 31000Rs
Apple iPhone 16Gb - 37000-38000Rs

Now this pricing seems to be really high when compared to the iPhones sold in US because it just costs 200$ for a 8Gb iPhone and in India it comes to around 720 USD.
