18th Jan 2009, a day to remember for thousands of Mumbaikars, the Mumbai

Marathon 2009 was well underway.

A day when Mumbaikars put its best foot forward and showed the city's indomitable spirit.

With 35,000 plus participants this was an event to look out for. Thousands took to the streets as they ran for the cause and lakhs turned up to cheer the runners in this show of strength.

The race started at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, which was targeted by terrorists, and ended at the same venue after the athletes touched another site of the terror strike - the Trident Hotel - on their way.
